Process

We are dedicated to excellence, delivering high quality practical designs on time and within budget.

Engagement

We listen to and understand our clients' needs and aspirations

Our stakeholder engagement plans recognise the diversity of public sector clients and ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time throughout the process. Regular, open, and transparent communication coupled with ISO9001 process underpins our approach to long lasting client relationships. We enhance the stakeholder experience through our engagement, focusing on enjoyment and motivating staff, patients and families to aspire to a better tomorrow.

Innovation

We work with the art of the possible and challenge existing thinking.

Combining evidence-based design with innovation we create the best possible environment for clinicians to deliver their care services. We have developed a modern operating theatre model at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital optimising the space available and improving patient experience. Separately we have evolved an MMC standard block solution and repeatable rooms for common accommodation requirements and are currently working on proposals for Nucleus Hospital sites.

Collaboration

We work with the art of the possible and challenge existing thinking.

Our One Team approach facilitates cross-disciplinary collaboration through open communication and iterative feedback. We establish a clear vision, balancing strategic objectives with site constraints to define a common project aim and shared goal. Our open dialogue allows ideas to evolve, building trust and shared ownership within the team to strengthen the final design.

Testimonials

Murphy Philipps not only met the expectations set out in our original brief but surpassed them. From the outset, they took the time to understand both the operational and emotional needs of our service, and this insight has translated into a space that feels intuitive, tranquil and highly functional.

— Jeremy Marcus, Client's Project Director, Samaritans

I am honestly blown away by the new hospital, the space and light, the artwork and gardens give a completely different feel to any mental health hospital I have been in before.

— Service user with representative lived experience, Hellesdon

Murphy Philipps' competence and expertise has added immeasurable value to the projects they have been involved with and we have always appreciated the energy and creativity they bring to the table.

— Mark Marshall, Head of Corporate Development and Infrastructure, Sudbury, Suffolk

I would personally like to thank all of you and your teams, an innovative idea, skilfully placed onto a drawing and amazingly executed by a superb building firm. We have seen a huge difference in patient flow after the project finished. We still saw 55,000 patients during the build and as we now see regular high five hundred going on six hundred patients a day within the department with an increase in performance.

— Anthony Hudgell, Head of Estates & Facilities, North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust

Murphy Philipps are exceptional health planners and architects...they listen, have a good understanding of the corporate, strategic and operational context of health planning and come back with great ideas which are prepared to discuss - refining the solution until it exceeds the original brief, and in doing so, bring added value to the project.

— Justin Pereia, Assistant Director, Newham General Hospital

Members of Murphy Philipps took the time to listen to staff, service users and carers to visit the current facillities in order to gauge a clear understanding, not just about the environment, but to learn about the frustrations that both service users and staff have to deal with on a day-to-day basis within a mental health unit.

— Trevor Abbotts, Area Manager, Southampton

Murphy Philipps' ability to engage with clinical staff and reflect the local needs has been impressive, and contributed significantly to maintaining levels of enthusiasm and drive for the complex changes we need to deliver.

The recent project was very challenging in terms of the cost envelope and time frame for delivery, and Murphy Philipps delivered everything required of them, to time, within budget, and with a sense of real added value through their interaction with Trust staff.

— Jane Darling, Deputy Chief Operating Office, East Sussex NHS Trust
