Social value responsibilities are part of our office’s core principles. As the office has grown and society’s awareness of Social Value has increased, we have developed our own methodologies to support our communities within our office, locally and the stakeholders' communities we serve.
We concentrate on the principles of the Social Value Act 2012, our methodology looks at each of these Social Value factors and how we can influence them, to what degree and where we can make the greatest impact, we have focused on maximising delivery.
We understand the importance of giving back to communities associated with our projects, that have allowed us to shape their physical environment. We support them by making active contributions to training and education, encouraging careers in architecture and construction. A conscious effort is made to engage with local schools surrounding our ongoing projects, participating in career events and providing young people with work experience and summer placements. We have been able to reach audiences and expose them to the industry where they may not have previously had the opportunity.
Our sustainable approach environmental benefits for PPF and their end user customers includes:
As part of the design collaboration process with user groups and interested parties, we work to develop spaces that promote interaction between inside and outside spaces through the use of landscaping and building design. This aligns the project with the vision contributing to the improvement of the wellbeing of individuals, while providing access to quality healthcare spaces.
As an architectural practice specialising in Healthcare, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of our staff. At MPA, we have qualified Mental Health First Aiders readily available and frequently provide team members with tools to maintain their mental wellbeing through ongoing CPDs. Our office offers various social events and sporting groups to encourage social connection outside of work and improve physical health respectively.
Our goal is to enhance community integration in every project by fostering strong engagement with both the community and stakeholders. We promote collaboration and open communication with all involved parties to ensure that our projects are seamlessly embedded within their communities for the long term. We prioritise inclusive design principles, addressing the needs of the community and users, while ensuring that new facilities are easily accessible to everyone.
We collaborate with charities and organisations each year, such as The Samaritans, to organise fundraising events to support local and wider communities. Our most recent Bingo themed fundraiser generated £1,500 which was donated to the Central London Samaritans who we have also recently completed a project with.
