Introduction

01

The Health Centre is a key part of the Integrated Care Board’s wider strategy to improve health and wellbeing by modernising general practice sites in North Central London.

The new building accommodates two of the Lawrence House Group’s local practices and their call centre team. The relocation to a modern, high-quality facility was intended to empower the practices to meet the expected increase in primary care demand.

Strategic goals and objectives

02

As an internal fit-out, the project required MPA to balance the constraints of the base build and deliver a design that optimised efficiency without compromising clinical functionality.

MPA worked with the existing façade design to maximise daylight and sunlight throughout, ensuring a therapeutic environment and a rich patient experience.

Implementation and engagement

03

In collaboration with the GP practices, MPA designed bespoke artwork walls that celebrate the wildlife and landscape of the nearby Tottenham Marshes. Materials and finishes were carefully selected to enhance this theme and bring a natural feel to the internal spaces.

The layout provides flexible spaces that can be reconfigured to provide a variety of clinical services and meet the population's changing needs.

Walking through these halls, we see a space intentionally filled with light, warmth, and the feeling of a fresh start. Designed not only for treatment but for healing, comfort, and connection, the building itself is a beacon of hope—a new lease on life for healthcare in our community.

Sila Makoon, the GP Practice’s Managing Partner

This centre is as much a sanctuary for patients as it is an inspiring workplace for our dedicated healthcare professionals.

Outcomes and success

04

Following the completion of the project, multiple lessons-learned sessions were held. These enabled both users and the design team to come together to reflect on the key learnings for future projects of this nature. As a result, we feel this project really sets a precedent in terms of the opportunity it posed for the local community to improve their services.

The centre will give residents access to high quality healthcare locally.
